Hiking from Håheim in Etne over to Sauda would make a wonderful one day march, and passing through Åboren wold be one of a few good routes.

Some of the small lakes in this terrain might provide excellent fishing for the eager angler, and the view from the top of Åborenuten (in the background of the painting) is spectacular.
